Build stronger than I did. Make the base plate 2x4 or 6 and use 1x4 for the butt piece, headstock, and 'fretboard area'. No dado-ing that way. Glue and screw. I think the basic design works.

I told you guys before I'm a hack...Doesn't show in the pic, but the plate(s) #1, #2, #3 (thickness) are extended/offset to one side a little for wire clearance. One lesson learned is how strong the string tension is. Thinking now that the bridge being adjustable is not that important. The butt is gonna get shortened a little to fix break angle on the bridge and tailpiece fitted better.

James, are you shooting for a world record for the number of builds? LOL seems like I just finish looking at the latest one, come back and boom. Here's another on the bench! Wow, you're almost making me dizzy catching up on your latest! Build on brother, more power to you! I envy you in that aspect, with my very limited work area I'm lucky to get 2 or 3 a month for my pet project. Hopefully that's all going to change soon! BTW where are the videos?

To be perfectly honest with you, and no joking around, I have no idea why I'm doing this. It seems to be a genuine compulsion, driven by what, I'm not sure. Maybe a need to find a way to 'live on' after I pass. It's really weird to me and at times it's so bad that I fight to reign myself in. It ain't easy being me.

Vids. I suppose you want to hear them, right?  I hope you remember that I do not play. All I can do is make some noise.

You have been bitten by the "CBG builders bug"! It lives in cigarboxes and comes out when strings and wood disturbes them. Their bite is an addiction without a cure. You can't go or do anything without wondering if this or that can be used and what it'll sound like!

Well bloody hell...

I do like trying to re-purpose items. On #2 build (the red one) the control box is  one of these... I also use the tops for cavity covers.

LOL junk piles aren't safe around me.

LOL...tell me about it...

The more reason to learn how to play?

I took piano as a kid and played cello a couple semesters in jr. high. My problem is that music has never clicked for me, it was always a struggle.I probably understand more now than I did then. Then there's my hands. Actually loosing function in my left, and there seems to be a relationship between function loss and pain. My fingers simply do not move that way nor do they have any speed at all. I am making an effort to learn some bass for my 2-string. Then there's the lap steels. That's a different story.

I played bass fiddle in Jr high and the stereo in my adult life. Because of an neck injury, motor skills in my left hand is almost non exsisting, but I don't give up trying.

Yep. Good attitude. I have two goals...learn to play the 2-string bass a little, and when I build the Barritone, learn to play this...

That thing is bad ass! I have arms for the awnings for my RV made of aluminum channel that think I could crank out about a dozen with plywood tops. Crap another project. LOL
