This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Working on a one stringer based on an old shovel handle I found on the side of the road awhile back. Almost have all the parts. Waiting on an old box I found on eBay.

Sounds Interesting Vinsanity.

My new CBG youtube channel. learning I need an Ouija board to use a mac.

There are major differences between mac and pc. A pc is logic based. Meaning you use the logic you’ve learned to get to where your going. So A + B = C. And A + B will always equal C. A mac is intuitive. I’ve been on mac for years now and still don’t know what that means. I do know if you wrote out the same math sentence your equation would be more like this. A over an Ouija board + B to the power of a psychic with a deck of tarot cards = C if C is greater than the astro plains of Jupiter. Here’s an example. On a PC all you have to do is drag and drop your prepared channel graphics for your youtube channel. On a mac you ask? I have to open my browser. Go to my youtube channel. Click on channel graphics to be told Error come back later. Then I have to set up my browser to not accept cookies. Turn off my browser. Then turn it back on. Go to google and re log back in. Select ‘accept cookies’ and turn my browser back off. Then turn my browser back on. Go to my Youtube channel and all is well. If I skip a single step it will not work. I’m not making this stuff up.

PC has always been easier for me, but several of their systems have been trash.

Replacing bone in the bridge of my lap steel, haven’t had this on the bench for awhile? Gotta get those round wounds off  it, every time I lend it out, they take my flats off?

Flats are so much better for slide. Round wounds are brighter and that's probable what they're used too.

Quit loaning out gear will solve all your problems. ;)

You like the bone nut/bridge more than the metal nuts/bridges on lap steel? Opinion of wood bridge?

Yea, I haven’t used round wounds since the eighties? Everything I play is old, so I set them up as they would be when they were made? 12-52/13-54 on electrics, 13-56 on acoustics & hollow bodies & 16-58 on long scale lap steels? Pure nickel flats are the way to go if you want deep ol’ time blues tone? Muddy Waters used Fender 13-54 pure nickel flats on his Tele & SRV also used larger 13-56/13-58 GHS pure nickel on his Strats?

Not really all that much work. Strung up a CBG backwards. Some people think that just because your ambidextrous you can automatically do stuff with both hands. Different side of the body, different side of the brain. It's the same learning process all over again. Doing this so I can reconnect with beginning guitar players.

BrianQ, Those are some heavy strings. I kinda favor the Billy Gibbons school of thought. "Why works so hard." Add the bottom with your equipment. But it's all good. I think the folks you lend your equipment out to think they're doing you a favor by putting new strings on. Most folks don't use flats.

I'm with you on the Billy Gibbons theory. He learned that trick from BB King (obviously you already know that). Though I do favor heavier strings on some guitars (I run 12/52's with a wound G on my LP Jr tuned in open D). I recently purchased a used parlor guitar and it came with a set of 13s on it. Sheesh. These babies are hard to bend.

Hi, SRV did use heavy strings but tuned down a tone, so maybe not so heavy on the fingers.

Taff

Just got two of those Tele neck CB Gitty has going on. Really nice looking. Fret ends definitely need some working on. But that's an easy fix. The frets themselves are on the small side. Reminds of of the old Teisco and other import guitars. When set up right they played like a dream. These will have to wait till next weekend. I'm three days late on that YouTube channel. What to get that up and running by the end of this weekend.

In reality, that's all cheap guitars need, a little finish work.

I finally got that Red Squier settled and it's a Rock/Blues Machine. I have seen these Squier Bullet Strats going for $100 new and $30 - $40 used in the pawnshops, CL, Ebay and FB Marketplace. This one needed a little bit of fret work and the original pickups are good. The weak points are tuners(loose and some may slip), nut(often plastic and should be changed to Tusq) and bridge blocks(cheap potmetal that needs to be changed to steel or brass). Those fixes will only cost about $40 more with shipping. Hard to beat them these days.

Good to hear on the Gitty necks, now if we can get some good 6 string necks for some 6 string CBG/Canjo builds.
