Where is a common location for strap button placement?

Difficult to standardize placement with the varying sizes of the boxes, but for balance purposes I have seen pics of one button located at the middle of the tail and the other under the neck where it enters the box.

If our box guitars were heavier (like a 7 lb Les Paul) I think the placement of the strap mounting points would be pretty critical for balancing the thing, but most of our builds weigh a couple of pound at best. That being said, I think mounting points are a bit less critical.

I've used trap "buttons" mounted in the lower string hanger, but since this is toward the top of the box, it doesn't feel particularly balanced. I've put the button below the string hanger (similar to where a button on an acoustic guitar goes). This feels pretty good, but for most strap ends, it's a pain in the butt to get the strap attached.

After a bunch of fiddling around, I settled on putting the strap button offset toward the upper edge of the box so it misses the string hanger. That means more of the box is below the button so the guitar hangs down pretty nicely.

As for the neck end, I just keep it simple and tie it around the neck just past the nut (like most acoustics do).

In the end, I think there are many workable mounting approaches. Find one that is not a pain to do, but gives you a comfortable hang to your box.

Many folks just use one on the  tail  ,, and  use a tie-on / shoestring  for the  headstock  behind the nut. (like many full acoustics)

Depending on box size and preference . and  balance ,  top  front corner and tail are popular .

You may also consider just a belt clip (like on mini amps ) to hook on your pocket .

If for sale .. ask customer for preference . or LEAVE EM ,  let them add their own to their liking .

or ..

 sit and relax  ;-)

Ive been doing it like this, tied to neck at nut. Seems ok to me
