my first bass guitar went to its owner tonight. I enjoyed making this. I was perturbed that the CB Gitty bass pick up was not wide enough to capture all the strings, but the snake oil pick up was Sounds fine. Next time, I will use a wider true bass pick up. The buyer liked the chrome, so when I went with the snake oil that made the look even better. Neck and fretboard all red oak, neck thru. Buyer wanted acoustic as well, so I have springs that did help with that. frets dots are clay.

Thanks Dave. It was quite the experience. Most importantly, buyer was real pleased.

yea, clay, I have aluminum molds I made, fill with clay, smooth flush then bake in oven. I have had good results. Good idea especially when you want colors that are not easily found in other materials. Check out youtube and you will see what folks use for molds. As for the springs. I have used them in several builds and it really depends on the sound you want. I like the reverb sound they give off and the more room there is in the body the more the sound. Good luck on you build, looking forward to seeing it when done.

"Clay for dots" clever idea! Nice build, how well do the springs work? I'm putting one from a "Dollar tree" echo Mic in mine. It sounds promising, but I'm waiting on my parts packed on a slow boat from China.

Thanks Poorness, it was fun to build and seemed fun to play. I learned a lot with this build.

Very cool. Bass was my first instrument so its always cool to see a CBB. I need to make one someday.

Thanks UJ, the owner is in law enforcement and he helped with the design.
