I "rescued" this 1gal ss safety can from a unspeakable demise and can't figure out what to do with it it's beat up at the bottom seam, so the original purpose is out of the question. I'm thinking a steel slide or maybe an amp housing. Any suggestions or comments?

If you choose to make a git out of it, you'll have to cut off the handle and the spout - lid mechanism. You might be able to rig up something(hucklebuck for Floridians LOL) to keep the spout-lid on or just remove it. My Canjo has the spout-lid removed for acoustic sound hole effect.

Haha! I was planning on removing the spout mechanism anyway no matter what I did unless I have it welded to keep it from rattling if it's an amp. But I would remove it and leave the handle if a git, because the one side of the bottom is mangled (F'd up for Mississippians) I'd cut that out for the neck.

LOL

I used a can like this for a guit and left the handle spout and everything attached. The rattle while playing made an interesting sound and actually sounded pretty cool.

I considered that, harmonics and all, but was thinking it would sound like a speaker with a tear in it.

What if you flip it over with the neck coming off the bottom side and use the handle for the string retainer?  No matter what you decide you should consider leaving the spout and seeing what happens before you cut it off, could be the coolest sound ever!

This is a great idea.

That's what I was thinking about because the bottom of the can is damaged.

A couple of pics of the can I did. The graphics were done by the guy who commisioned the guit.

How's the upper fret access?

As you can see, alot of reaching around. This one's for display so not overly important.

Great job, how does it sound unplugged?
