I was thinking about going to Hunstville this year for the CBG fest but I can't find any information about it online. I know it typically happens in late May or early June so I figured it would be posted somewhere. I checked this site, various social media sites, Shane Speal's site, and Lowemill.net. Nobody had any mention of it whatsoever.

Is the festival happening this year? If someone has any details please paste a link below. I'd really like to go.

It was in June last year? You may wanna drop Shane an email, maybe he knows something?

I have also have looked for info, I`m 1.5 hours away for Huntsville and cannot find anything anywhere.

I have looked at the tour schedule of different artists that have played there before with no luck.....

Yeah, you'd think they'd have more figured out considered bands come from out of town and such. I'm sure somebody knows. I'll try Shane like BrianQ suggests.

There are three CBG fests here in Missouri. Not a single post about any of them here in the fests and concerts area. It's easier to find info on facebook. You would think people would be proud enough about their local fests to post something here.

Yeah, you'd think. :-/

BTW, I emailed Shane Speal and sent him a link to this thread. No answer yet, but I realize he's probably got a lot of emails to sort through.

The venue that it is held at, Flying Monkey Arts, has gone through some changes and is now Barking Dog Arts.  The Cigar Box Guitar Festival is usually on the calendar, but I haven't seen anything yet.  https://barkingdogarts.com/

Yeah, I dunno man. I can't seem to find anything. You'd think they'd want to promote an event like this.

Let's me and you do an event, Red Dog & Po' Boy Studios...we'll make it great!

even if it's just us, we can just record cool songs and chat about cigar box guitars...perhaps like Al Bundy "If we build it they will come"

Honestly, I have thought of putting on a festival or trade show multiple times for multiple different hobbies. The main reason is because it always seems like the ones that exist are under-organized (not unique to CBGs at all). I actually started looking into it a few years back and it's a tremendous amount of work. It takes a lot of time and money to put on a festival. The secret is an army of volunteers. At that point, I just started volunteering where I can to help out with other fests.

Speaking of that, I've attended similar festivals where they'll ask for volunteers to work a 4 hour shift doing everything from selling drinks to picking up trash. Once your shift is over, you can attend the festival (or you get a free t-shirt or food or whatever). I'm wondering why fests like these don't do a call for volunteers here at CBN.

You would think they would do that. But here is the rub, in that, a lot of members, seem to ignore this site, and would rather do everything on FaceBook. There are a lot of members that are over there, and ignore their accounts here. Pretty much don't use them at all. Don't even know the names of the places there. Maybe part of it, is because of CBGItty doing the shows on FB.

This place years ago, was always the place to be. There would be at least, 20 to 30 chatters here, all the time, thru the day and night.

That's unfortunate. I realize Facebook is convenient and free, but a lot of people don't participate, so using that platform automatically excludes a ton of folks. Add to that the fact that over 15,000,000 Americans have quit Facebook since 2017 and more quit every day. I dunno, I guess I'm just anti-social media. (ha ha... get it?)
