This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

My avatar git has a fulcrum tremolo made from a heavy duty door hinge that I mounted to the through piece that extends out of the box. It doesn't look pretty, but it was easy to work with without further damaging the box. The hardest part was getting the right springs for it to achieve the correct spring tension.

The old Teisco style Tremolo that C.B.Gitty sells works great and it easy to install. Got any pics of what your trying to do and what's getting in the way?

Hi, here's a bit more on the Pine Project.

I have fine sanded the neck, I have the truss rod - two way - ready to go in and have just cut the fret slots in the Jarrah fingerboard and shaped it. Also started to reshape the peghead.

Taff

Neck looks great and I love the headstock Taff.

Just a heads up. Was buying some bobbins at Stewmac and checking out the frets. It looks like now a good time to pick up a few, they got a savings deal going on. Just copped 8ft of jumbo wide frets for $20.

#153 and a custom amp...

Love that amp, brings back a lot of memories of being at the Drive In.

Pretty sweet amp...

Too bad all drive-ins now use FM transmitters...

They had to. People kept taking the speakers and turning them into guitar amps. : )

Nice looking build and amp John. SWEAT!

Made me laugh : D

Family movie night at the Drive In, speaker on the window and Dad smoking a big cigar "to keep the mosquito's away". The cigar kept everything and everyone away. Hahaha

The drive off with the speaker still in the window happened more than occasionally.

Part 3 ? I think....The Pine Project.

Here I'm putting a radius on the Jarrah fingerboard after slotting the board on my fretting saw using a 25.5" scale.

I filed the "V" in the top of the slot, to save damage to fret slot when frets removed for refretting. I do not see any benefit from the "V" when installing frets into a correct sized slot, I did not bother to glue these frets in either this time.

Then cutting the frets a bit over size, these are the harder Evo gold coloured frets. Bit over the top for a CBG though.

Frets installed, ends cut flush [no back bow of f/board due to good fit of fret in slot] this allowed me to sand flush and bevel the fret ends on my belt sander.

Next install truss rod, glue on f/board and dress frets.

Taff

didn't realize this blog has so many pages. just saw Taff's project, so.....Taff, how do you taper your necks. i have a jig for the table saw but it's tricky, wondering why other builders do.
