This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?
I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.
A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Carbon fiber I heard of, never used it because its kinda new, though the military has been using it for years. Its light too. I noticed Stewmac sells titanium rods for truss support.
Good info, and incredible build Taff! Thats super nice.
Yeah, I don't plan on using the pine for necks, besides the plank is only 3/4" thick, excellent for bodies though.
Good looking Pine Strat body Taff.
I made a neck out of pine for my first 4 string CBG. I put a steel non-adjustable trussrod in it and it had a Red Oak fretboard glued on top. I thought it was enough, but the headstock started to bend under the string pressure and I had to add a 1/4" Red Oak veneer to stablize the headstock. Some Poplar species can be soft too, so watch out guys.
Hi, I just found the pine neck from all those years back. It is perfect quarter sawn and ready for finishing....dare I??? The guitar was made as a demo but never finished. I think I'll go ahead and finish it, but I'll use a double action truss rod. We will see what we shall see. Watch this space.
BrianQ, Looks like I was not ahead of my time, how about great minds think alike, ha ha.

It looks good Taff. A trussrod and maybe a couple graphite rods running through the neck and headstock to keep it all stable or it might be fine on it's own. Ron Kirchner's Pine Tele has a Pine neck without a trussrod, so you never know. Haha
Yea, I believe there used to be an internet group for Pine guitars back in the day? A lot of people don’t understand that there’s more than one species of pine? I think it’s an underrated wood? I have seen many a fine instrument built with it, that’s some great looking stuff you built there!
Thanks guy's. This species is Pinus Radiata.
Taff
Correct, many types of Pine and Pine is in the same family as Spruce, Fir and Aspen I believe.
I have a Aspen Strat body(used to be a Behringer guitar) that I'm planning to convert into a Baritone. It had a good tone to it and it's light, hoping the neck won't be too heavy for it.
Thanks guy's. This species is Pinus Radiata. I used to work with people with a disability building outdoor furniture using this pine. It comes graded for different uses. I have an outdoor table/benches 30 years old still straight as.
Taff
Good to know that type to look for, thanks for the info.
Wikipedia says that species is Monterey Pine grown on the California and Mexico coast. It's a medium density softwood suitable for many uses. Another site says it's classified as one of the hardest Pines like Loblolly Pine and Lodgepole Pine.
What pickups Taffy?
Suggestions: 1. Strat neck and middle with a Tele Bridge pup. 2 Victory Lowrider Gold Foils. 3. Lipstick Tubes.
