Is their a standard position for locating volume and tone knobs in relation to cbg lid? Volume closest to tailpiece or vice versa, or who cares?

There’s no rules in CBG mate get them in where you can , have fun enjoy the building .

I really like that offset neck! Neat idea!

Thanks Mike I do love the off set through neck seems to be my signature type of builds .

yup . who cares ? , where-ever ;-)

Hi, yes I agree there is no real reason you cant put controls anywhere you want. Creativity is the name of the game. Hmmm, on the peghead is a bit of a reach Ha Ha.

Spot the controls on this cbg.

That's the tone on the base There's the Volume, the grommet rotates. Taff

Nice Taff, Note the jack on my headstock too . ( the cable  runs down the truss rod channel ) ;-) LOL . The pickup is actually an electric razor motor . ;-)

If you want to follow standard store bought guitar builds the volume is the closest to the strings. But if that's not what you want then do what you want. It's your guitar.

In all seriousness . as long as they are not where they  interfere with playing or strumming or palm muting etc ..  have at it .  note . some folks like the volume closest to the strings to  do  "volume swells" etc   ..

If building for someone else , ask them their preference .

If building for yourself .... Have fun with it .

I once knew a guy that drilled the volume pot hole too close to the edge, it hit the frame and wouldn't close. Heh, heh. I ( mean HE) had a fun time fixing that one!

Just depends on you and your style of playing.

If you like to rotate the volume/tone knobs for effect, then you want them close to the bridge. If you don't use them like that then anywhere they're out of the way and look decent.
