I spend way too much time sanding.

I don’t use anything that doesn’t have the 3M logo on it, cheap sandpaper will give a cheap performance? My 2 cents, cheers

I avoid 3M. Unless it's the only paper I can get at the moment. Norton is expensive. But worth every inch you pay for. I'll go through an entire pack of 3M to every one sheet of Norton.  Be cautious with the heavier grits. On an orbital or vibrating sander they will chew fast.

For some fine sanding try ScotchBright pads. They come in three types. And do a really nice job.

3M Ultra Flex is the way to go. Yes, it a little more expensive than normal sandpaper but they're not kidding when they say it lasts 15 times longer.

Yes, Korrigan, that’s what I’m using, it’s really worth the extra. It really sucks to have sandpaper that rips! I got a bunch 40% off when the OSH went outta business here a few weeks ago

Wow, good deal.  : )

I'll admit, I am not a connoisseur but I usually use 3M and have not noticed any issues

Regular papers aside , I have to mention these things .   raid  the wife's purse for some emery boards   . perfect  for touching up f-holes / sound holes / small  parts  .etc etc ...

You can even touch up your thumbnail after  messing it up from stripping wires the redneck way  ;-)

Emery boards are also great for touching up fret ends.

Thanks Korrigan, I'm going to try that 3m flexible stuff, specially as its wet or dry, I've never heard of it before. I have no preference in sandpaper really, only the adhesive backed paper, I think its 3m.

I speak from experience when I say do not, I repeat, DO NOT raid your wife's purse for these. Go get some from the Dollar Store. Surely saving your hide is worth a dollar.  :D

Dang ,  You caught me Korrigan  , I was tryin to take out the competition , while looking like i was leaving a legit tip  ;-)

Hi, I have a whole range of different sanding sticks, even down to the size of those emery boards.

I use the adhesive backed sandpaper and make my own  "emery boards" by glueing different grades to old feeler gauges or the like.
