Just finished build number 4.  Man this is getting addictive.  I spend more time building than playing.  Built this 3 string (was supposed to be 4 string but messed it up) electric bass out of home depot lumber.  I modeled the body after a Rickenbacker 340 guitar because I just love the shape of them.  It's a 30" scale with the E, A, and D strings.  Simple humbucker pickup sounds great.  No static or buzzing whatsoever.  For a truss rod I used 2 pieces of 1/2" x 1/8" aluminum flat bar glued together.  I routed out a channel in the neck just under the fretboard and glued them in sideways so their lateral strength would give the neck as much support as possible. So far so good.  I originally planned for it to be a 4 string which is why there is an extra hole in the headstock.  Unfortunately I didn't plan very well so went to 3 strings.  I actually like this better though.

Oh... and try not to notice that I put the double fret markers on the 9th fret instead of the 12th.  Yeah... WTH was I thinking?

Looks great Patrick! That extra hole in the headstock you can use for hanging.  And who cares about the fret markers? Bass players don' t play past the 7th fret anyway, right?  : )

Great idea for that extra hole.  Thanks!!!!

That's my Beaker face.

Looks good. Nice work,I know what you mean about more building than playing. I swear I'm gonna start practicing more............as soon as I get the next neck glued up,

An easy fix for the fret markers, turn the 12 onto a triple dot, then you can claim the 9th fret double is a "blues" marker for the C#, F# and B

Good suggestion.  May as well make all the others double dots that way the 9th doesn't stand out.

9th - LA, 11th - TI, 12th/0th - DO,  2nd - RAY, 4th - ME, 5th - FA, 7th - SO

this is your relative minor scale/key (G major = E minor, C major = a minor)

Nice. I'm likin' it a lot.

very nice, i wanna hear her in action
