SPLITTING HEADSTOCK HELP

Hi All

I'm no CBG builder, but need some advice on my headstock is splitting around the log of the guitar tuner

its there any I can use to stop this

I am a little late in the game but my two cents is I would inset and glue a piece of wood to fill the gap and then sand the end grain to bare wood and then go over the end grain with super glue.  The super glue will go into the grain of the wood and make it very hard.

Glue on the end grain is a good idea.
