I was talking to the guitar player at our church a couple weeks ago about my fist dogbowl build. He showed a huge interest in it and seemed  really excited to see the finished product. While we were talking he mentioned that he would like do get into more folk style playing, so I figured I'd surprise him with this build.

It is a left handed 3 banger, It was built with a red oak neck sporting a maple finger board bolted to the mahogany and cedar box. The fret dots and markers were made by mixing black dye with super glue and filling 1/4 inch dimples made with a fostner bit and then sanded flush. It is build on a 25" scale tuned to gbd. The nut is made from a beef soup bone as is the bone and maple biscuit. It has a nice dobro-ish sound and great sustain. All hardware from C.B.Gitty.

I didn't put any kind of pup in it but did leave a spot to add a jack if the recipient decides he wants to amp it. I wish I could play it. I'm practicing everyday but for now just enjoying the builds.

Just ordered parts for two more builds(My wife is gonna kill me). Thanks for looking

EDIT TO ADD .....finish is 4 coats of tru oil on everything. Buffed and waxed.

Very nice, for a new builder you look like you've been doing this for a while, checked out your other builds, very nice as well. I liked you use of the auger bolt for the neck mount, do you have any additional pics of inside bracing you used for that build?

What bracing are you referring to?  The top and bottom or the sides and neck? I have a few other pics of the build and I'd be happy to help. let me know what your interested in.

Inside the box bracing, since your fastening the neck to the front face of the box(I didn't see any cut or dovetail) I was curious since it was a 6 string if the string tension was twisting at the face of the box causing any neck relief(forward bow) caused at all?

I'm sorry you are mistaken it is only a 3 string but to answer your question. I put an x brace on the back and ran two small lateral braces in between the F holes. I braced the resonator by cutting two rings of 1/8 in. mahogany and glued them to the underside of the top. As far as box bracing all I did was a typical kirfing like you would on a guitar. I did use 1/2 in. oak for the head stock that the neck bolts to. Along with 1/2in. oak for a tail piece. I also put a 3 degree angle on the heel of the neck, witch seems a tad too much as my bridge ended up being .77 in. tall.

my mistake, I was looking at a couple different builds from different people and inadvertently....I screwed up lol

Awesome looking instrument Frank!
