The Sacramento Area Cigar Box Guitar Workshop will be at the Rocklin Mini Maker Faire at Sierra College, on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 again for the fourth year to show our CBGs. We have lots of rack space, so bring your instruments out and meet the 8,000 or more guests that come by the booth. We start setup at about 7am and the fair is open from 9am to 4pm. We are looking for uke players for the event to attract guitar and uke players to the booth. Our regular fall meeting is still on for October 20th at 12 noon at the Strum Shop in Roseville.
We had scheduling conflict at the Strum Shop and had to change the time for the Sac Area CBG Workshop meeting on July 21st to 3pm. I hope you all can still make the meeting.
Well it's time for another Sacramento Area Cigar Box Guitar Workshop meeting at 12 noon on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at the Strum Shop, 209 Vernon Street, Roseville, CA 95678. I don't know about you, but I have lots of new CB Uke builds to show and some nice new mag pickups too. The new FREE parking structure behind the shop is now open, so use it and don't get towed from the lot on the corner. Bring a show and tell and lets get a little playing going.
The Sacramento Area Cigar Box Guitar Workshop will meet at 12 noon on Saturday April 21, 2018 at the Strum Shop in Roseville. We had a few new members at our last meeting in January and more people have contacted me since interesting in CBG's. So bring your new and first builds and show and tell. One of the newbies has lots of guitar repair tools to bring and show how they are used. Start learning a song to perform so that we can really hear the tone of your CBG's. As always, I will have some great cigar boxes for sale.
Happy 2018 New Year! Our next Sacramento CBG Meeting is at 12 noon on January 20, 2018 at the Strum Shop in downtown Roseville. Bring your newest builds and show and tell.

It's almost time for our fall Sacramento Area CBG Workshop meeting at the Strum Shop, 209 Vernon Street, Roseville, CA 95678 on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1pm. On Saturday October 14th we are at the Rocklin Mini Maker Faire where we show our Gits and sell Diddley Bows, Canjos and Cigar Boxes for Ukes For Schools. See you all there!
The round CBG challenge ends in lest than 2 weeks at your Sac Area CBG Workshop at the Strum Shop in Roseville on August 5, 2017. There are some great cigar box prizes for all contestants
The challenge for the October 7, 2017 Sacramento Area Cigar Box Guitar Workshop is to build an open back banjo from a small or large Acid Cigar Box. The Acid box makes a great banjo, because of the type of wood that the box is made of and the box joints that make construction so easy. The acoustic instrument may be a 1 string Diddley Bow or 2, 3, 4 or 5 strings, fretless, diatonic or chromatic fretted, any scale length, steel or nylon strings and the bottom of the box may be used as a sound board or a PETE1 skin can be nailed to the frame. The more functional parts you make from the box, the more points you get. (nut, bridge and string anchor) No neck throughs, the neck must have a heal and be glued or attached to the box with screws or a bolt. All information will be reviewed at the August 5th CBG meeting and prizes awarded at the October 7th meeting. If you have an Acid box, bring it to the August meeting, if not, I will have some small and large available and a couple already cut to the 2 ¼ - 2 ½ inchs for those that may not have a table saw. Read the challenge carefully! I will have examples for you to examine at the August 5th meeting.
and everyone who attends the meeting gets a free cigar box.
