Hello community

My next build: a 2-stringer with two pickups, one for each string. They should work together (simple connected or via blender) to one output jack and (maybe switchable) as two individual pickups with separate output jacks (connected to two different amps). Would be great if they got individual volume controls for both situations...
Any ideas, experience or tipps?
BIG THANKS for every input ;-)

What would be the advantage of this setup?

Unless your going to have a string for guitar and a string for bass, I don't see any benefits for having a pickup, pots and jack for each string.

So what are your thoughts on why it would be a good idea?

It could be done as your saying, I just don't see why it would make much impact other than the different amps. You could use 2 pickups (each covering both strings) 1 neck and 1 bridge or 1 electric mag pickup and 1 piezo running to 2 amps through 2 jacks or 1 stereo jack and a Y cable to 2 amps.

I have a 6 string semi-hollow guitar that has 2 electric magnet pickups wired to 1 lug of a stereo jack and a piezo on the other lug of the stereo jack. I use a stereo to 2 mono Y cable running the piezo to one amp and the other signal to another amp. Give the sound of a electric guitar and acoustic guitar being played at the same time with same notes/chords. I just use the volume knobs of each option to switch between the 2 if I want.

The 2 cords to 2 amps can cause RF problems, so it's good to put some distance between the amps. This means a long cord and not a lot of movement on your part if your gigging it.

Yes, a bass string and a guitar string, or a different sound at the bass string, or... ;-)
I add a wiring diagram, but I dont know if it works... When e.g. the volume of the bass string is totally turned down (the output of the pot is on ground) is the signal of the high pup also on the ground?

 Here is 2 wiring schemes.

If your doing each pickup to a separate volume and jack, then no switch is needed. Just use the volume to add and take away signal. Of course 2 jacks aren't needed in this scenario unless you want to isolate each string to different amps Or use the stereo jack and Y cable.

Turning the volume all the way down cuts signal for that pickup to ground and kills the signal.

Thnx for the diagrams, so my plan should work... ;-)
Although I dont understand it... When I put the pot of the bass pup down to the ground is the signal of the high pup not also on the ground (direct trough the switch)?

If you want to use the wiring scheme you supplied for 2 jacks, omit the Red and the switch. Run the bass pickup's wire from it's volume straight to it's jack. You would have 2 separate circuits controlled by they're volume pots. Follow the blue lines I added and omit the red and black in between.

If you want to have 2 pickups, 2 volumes, 1 tone and 1 jack, follow the JBass wiring scheme I supplied.

If you want to have a blend pot, follow the second scheme I supplied.

Thnx
