Sorry to hog this bit of the forum, but after just getting over Boxstock, I'm trying to get a bit of feedback to see how it went down, how it can be improved etc. If you went, and already had an email about this, sorry for the duplicate message, but if you did go to Boxstock and would like to give me your views I'd be most grateful. I've contacted everyone who bought tickets off me directly, but there may be a few who bought tickets from the venue or came on the day that I haven't managed to get in touch with, hence this message.
It would really help me to get some feedback, so if you could take a few minutes to tell me what was good, what was bad etc, then I can make efforts to improve it for next time. Here are a few questions, but please feel free to add any comments or suggestions of your own.
Had you been to a previous edition of Boxstock?
Would you come to another Boxstock?
What did you think of the acts?
What did you think of the venue?
Was the ticket price good value?
How easy was it to get to the venue?
What were parking arrangements like?
Did you stay overnight, in which case where was it and how did you rate your accommodation?
Have you any suggestions for artists who you would like to see on the bill?
In the past, we have had an informal Friday night meet-up, which has sometimes been simply going for a meal together, sometimes an informal open mic. music session. Would you be interested in this?
Rather than clutter up this forum, please send me a private message on here, or email direct to mail@chickenbonejohn.com
Thanks in anticipation.
Greg, I have posted some Boxstock 2017 photos on the main GBN photo board, I'm a bit of a knob when it comes to IT and couldn't see how to post photos straight on to Brits comment wall, They were taken with my i phone so not the best but saw other with quality cameras so perhaps better pictures will be posted shortly,
Has anybody got any photos from Boxstock 2017 that they could post on here? I didn't have much time to take any myself but it would be great to show what a fantastic day it was.
I was sorry I couldn't make it to Boxstock this year, but work and my Master's Degree are curtailing my social life at the moment. It sounds like it was a great success, and a good time was had by all. Next time guys.
What a great day Saturday was. Some very talented builders, willing to share their experience; fascinating to watch the pure enjoyment of those building their first instrument; four great acts I'd never see before, and loads of chat with like minded folks
Couldn't have asked for more. Thanks John for making it happen
Thanks to everyone who came to Boxstock 2017...players, traders and audience..it can't happen without you, so a sincere thanks for all having the faith to spend your time and hard earned money to support it by being there. I was delighted to see so many new faces, although my memory is like a sieve, and I don't easily connect names to faces, so I'm sorry if I may have seemed a bit distant at times. It was an honour to welcome Fabian, Nichole and Benny who had come all the way from Germany and have them open the evening, and it's very humbling that folk are prepared to come so far...quite a few from Scotland and one from Ireland.
The venue management and staff made life very easy for me, great sound man, helpful management..no pressure, that was very nice. It seems that we sold enough tickets that on balance I don't actually owe them any money to pay for the venue hire and staff wages, and thanks to the great support we had, I even managed to pay all the performers a bonus out of the takings.
Just in case anyone wasn't aware, I was also running a stand at The Guitar Show in Birmingham on both Saturday and Sunday..so huge thanks go out to my wife and daughters for running that part of my business and allowing me to concentrate on the main event, which was of course Boxstock.
As far as I could see, it seemed like a lot people had an enjoyable and happily chaotic afternoon making their own guitars, and being taught how to play by Hollowbelly, and we had a packed room full of people in the evening who were very generous with their praise and applause for everyone who put foot on the stage.
Once again, thanks to everyone who came. Making and playing cigar box guitars has for me become more than a hobby, it's a passion, and my livelihood...it puts food on our family table and fills my heart with friendship, love and joy...thank you all very much.
