Have you considered Music Against Borders they donate to instruments for refugees:
Wishing you all the best.
Cheers Dani - wasn't sure from your post if you were a complete newbie - my mistake lol. Thanks for your kind words and I will for sure find a good home. Enjoy Boxstock - it will be a blast I am sure. Cheers, Bryan
Hey Slow Blues Dani, I see you are from Manchester and I was originally a Lancashire lad. If you can't afford a guitar but if you could swing by Derby on your way to Boxstock there are 6 guitars (2 acoustic and 4 electric) looking for a new home. See my post below. Bryan
Final call for anyone who wants to show and sell stuff at Boxstock - £30 for a stall, including a free ticket to the evening show. Message me on here or mail@chickenbonejohn.com
There are just two tickets left for my "Make and Play" workshop - if you want to make a guitar with me and Hollowbelly...be quick!!!
For anyone else who hasn't decided whether to attend or not, all I can say is that I haven't run this event since 2013, so it's long overdue and these events are always unique. It's easy to get there by rail or road...don't complain that it's too far to come, it's just 2 or 3 hours of hours on the motorway...we've got people from Ireland and Germany coming! It's a rare opportunity to meet people face to face instead of communicating through the insubstantial and anodyne medium of the internet. There are 10 guitar makers selling their wares, so plenty of opportunities to make a purchase and see how other people make their instruments.
During the day there's an open mic stage - if you want to have a crack, don't be shy, you'll be among friends, so please let me know if you want a spot and I'll draw up a list.
Come on, get out out your sheds and bedrooms and live a little!
Thanks Brian Tin-Pot Pearse. These things happen and I'm glad you followed that path - long may you continue
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis Bryan Folklaw, I remember fondly my first cbg experience you organised at the Saracens Head, Newton Abbot. It was the start of a journey that not only brought me to making and playing these crazy instruments but also gifted meeting some remarkable, like-minded folk. Our very best wishes, Bryan.
