Hi all.
I love CBGs but have managed to get into it without coming from, or going to, a real big thing for the blues.
I do play live and would like to start adding some classic blues songs to the repetoire.
Any recommendations gladly recieved - I play slide, no frets,
Thanks in advance.

I went down to the crossroads always seems like a biggie. I really like it.
Dust my broom.
Boom boom by John Lee Hooker.
A few of my favourites. There are loads to choose from. Not saying these are the best but they're some of my favourite and I think they're quite well known across the board too.
I know an easy one. Muddy waters Rollin and a tumblin.
Standard 1&3 string at octaves. Tune your middle down so the bass at the 5th fret is the middle string and the 7th fret is on the high.
The 'Rollin and a tumblin' is on the high 5th and 3rd frets (playing the mid and high together). 'Night long' is on the middle string 3rd fret. Then run on the bass string on 2nd and 3rd string to middle string on 4th fret for the pause in singing. 'Woke up this morning' is on the mid string 5th and 3rd fret playing top and mid. The bridge section is top string and bass string on the 3 - 2 - 1 - open, for bass and high string. Little run up the middle string to 4th fret :)
Sorry I can't type in finger notation. But mess about with it.
I need to be more awake than I am to understand Formhorach's description , but I will persevere!!
There's always Little Red Rooster. Dead simple.
The other one that isn't strictly blues but could have that feel with very little imagination is Honky Tonk Woman.
Any of the 12 bar blues can be made your own. never played fretless, but if you can do the standard blues shuffle ( bass and middle string open then open bass and middle on fret 2 and then fret 3), then Walking Blues is another good one.
You may have gathered that I like early Stones stuff!!
Muddy Waters, "can't be satisfied" fits the CBG well. Also, it is in the key of G,so ideal for GDG tuning.
easy,,,, led zeps in my time of dying
