When doing my measuring I usually clamp my measuring tape along my neck/board so it never moves

Kevin, one thing I do to help improve my precision in marking frets is to mark with an exacto or other razor knife rather than a pencil. As Bear stated, each fret needs to be measured from the nut, not the previous fret.

Kevin, apologies if I'm stating the obvious. You probably already know but just in case, make sure you measure from the nut each time and not fret to fret. .5 allowance on each fret measurement really adds up fast. No offence meant in mentioning this. No doubt you already know and this is a "just in case" thing. Best of fortunes with it all.
Bear.

Kevin, excellent work! Gotta say that is the first swordfish bill I've seen in a git. :-)

Yeah. About 0.5mm is about right. Even if you are out by 0.5 there won't be much difference in tones.

Kevin, you can pretty safely ignore the .29, I generally work to .5 of a mm,so in your case i would mark just on the low side of .5, while not being 100% accurate, chances are your cut won't be dead centre of your mark anyway

Hi All,I have just done the conversion from Imperial to metric for setting up the fret marks on my build ,my question is "how prefect do the measurements have to be when yo are dealing with for E.g

point 29 mm

Cheers Kev

Great score on the Grovers! The locking ones like that run about $60 a set (and up!).

I can second the cheap 80's guitar finds. I got a great set set of Dimarzio humbuckers from one.
