Boxstock is back!!! The UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival is happening on Saturday 25th February 2017. The venue is the Slade Rooms (yes, named after the famous Black Country band Slade), Wolverhampton. During the day (free entry!!) there will be workshops, trade stands, open mic, and an informal get-together. In the evening there will be a gig...Hollowbelly will be playing, with other acts to be confirmed in due course.

It's a proper city centre music venue, with a big PA system, in-house sound engineer and a separate bar. It's easily accessible off the motorway network, with plenty of nearby car-parking.

I was hoping to run an event this year, but the venue was booked up, but undeterred I've decided to run with this date.  If you've never been to Boxstock, then it's the ideal opportunity to put faces to names and meet all those people that you've chatted to on CBN or Facebook, swap ideas on how to build guitars, and get some top notch playing tuition.

I've still got a fair bit of work to do in terms of booking acts, finalising the ticket price, and getting graphics for posters and flyers done...but it is happening!!! For those of you making and selling guitars, there will be the opportunity to take a trade stand (at a very modest price), and the all-day open mic will give players the opportunity to perform. If you want a table to sell from, or if you want an open mic spot, please get in touch with me, the earlier the better, as I want to try and fit everyone in.

Yes it is a pity, but I know Simon has had a lot on his plate!!!

Well Nigel I've just rung the Lord Hill and they said Simon Cartlidge made an inquiry but never confirmed the booking so it isn't on! What a disappointment! I was looking forward to something happening in my neck of the woods for a change. Oh well.

Can anyone confirm the Market Drayton Blues Festival is going ahead next weekend? The Lord Hill pub has no mention of it on their Facebook page.
