This one has drug out but I am nearing completion finally so I thought I'd post up a couple of teaser pics.  This one was inspired by an offhand comment by a member here about theme builds.  I saw a lunchbox build and I was off and running.  Some of the design work was difficult but oh so worth it.  Let me know what you think!

The headstock

the saddle and bridge...

And the neck and fretboard

Here is the rundown:

neck is maple with a mahogany heel, headstock veneer is maple burl.  The Fretboard is spalted Tamarind.  The lunchbox IS NOT the collectable, it is a Chinese manufacture from 1999 and has the trademark info for the "Long ranger"  lol  it will have dual 27mm piezos and a volume control.  this is turning into a spectacular Git one of my best, likely sell this one as I have two others in the works.  I couldn't be happier with how this one is going.  Been really taking my time on it and it shows. well back to sanding!

Thanks my friend, this one has been fun and challenging. That six gun headstock was a booger to design.

love the headstock  ;-)

Awesome!

Awesome looking build! The fretboard actually looks like a desert map. Totally cool. Looking forward to hearing this.

Nice build, your talent is very much appreciated....as plenty people don't realize how much effort and creativity can go into a piece of playable art....cheers.

That's gonna be a beauty!! I hope the scale puts the bridge well to the bottom, it'd be a shame to cover the graphics !!!

It won't cover much but Silver's head and neck.  Sadly though I made a big mistake when drilling the tuners and while I can fix it both aesthetically and structurally.  The flaw will be visible and the git is now solidly a "second" and I will likely give it away.  Think I'd like to find a kid wanting to learn or maybe a wounded combat vet.  I don't know but as I can no longer sell it for anything close to really even the material cost, giving it away will at least pay off in good feelings..lol.  Any ideas?

thanks

Keith

Find out who or where (Eagles, Elks, VFW), is having an auction for Vet's in the future and donate it. I did that with a great looking pot rack I made as a blacksmith and no $$  I ever earned in the trade felt as good as the $$ that was donated

May do that wayfinder. It is a bit too nice to be a second quality.  LOL.. I have made enough of them.

Wow that looks great. Can't wait to hear it!

BTW I think my roommates had a VHS copy of "The Long Ranger" back in college. Different storyline altogether. :)

yeah I don't think they put that one on a lunch box..lol
