Just can't (won't) cut through a can..it's too flimsy. either it stays acoustic or I place a piezo somewhere other than the body (can). It's an olive oil can. I searched pics here and don't see many piezos placed on the neck itself. If you have a pic or idea let me know. thank you

I put mine just under the fret board seeing that I had no where else to put.

I made this one for my son as he wanted one.

This is cool.

Nice design!

Really nice, simple, functionality.  Was the body, such as it is, a found item or did you make it specially?

I made the hole lot.

I make motorcycle carriers/grab rails for living.

should of spelt whole and not hole. no doubt you all know what I mean.

Sweet build

I made a tin lid resonator that had no room on the box lid for a pickup, so I put a single pole pickup under the tin lid itself.  There is a gap of about a millimetre or so between the pole and the tin lid but I need to adjust the design so that I can set the gap while the guitar is assembled.

The bracket is a short section of aluminium angle section and the pickup is home-made with 5000 turns on a 4mm machine screw (with some suitable tubing between screw and coil). The magnet is a small neodymium magnet with a 4mm hole through it.

Jon,

I have had pretty good luck mounting piezo's in the bridge. You can use a rod or the disc. I have used many disc piezo's by simply drilling a hole under the bridge, a bed of hot glue to set the disc in.......then cover it up with hot glue and allow to harden. Just make sure that the glue is below the level of the bottom of the bridge if you want a free floating bridge ;-)  Handling noise is not bad at all and they usually have very good sound. Hope this helps.

Thanks it does help. On the can is just a bolt/screw as a bridge...maybe a disc piezo under a piece of wood under the screw

Hi again, my earlier statement about putting a piezo pick up on the peghead was a way of saying that they will work pretty much anywhere on a guitar, only some places are better than others. With magnetic pickups however there are ideal [sweet spots] for their placement. I will not go into it here but check it out. If you look at the wave forms of a vibrating string you will see that it has many modes of vibration. The fundamental and a host of harmonic vibrations all at the same time.

So where one places the pickup will effect the volume and sound, which is what the pickup is seeing from under that part of the string its sitting under..............This is getting too deep, we're talking CBG's here.

Cheers Taff
