Nearly got arrested in a Michael's taking each box off the shelf, holding it up to my ear, and thumping it...

(They got over it when I bought 5 of 'em. Now they send me coupons.)

Here's some more quicken things ...

  -- walking into the work shop in the morning, and smelling the sawdust you made the night before.

Or -  Finding a new repeatable chord sequence that knocks you out...

Or  - the glue's dry ! ..  time to remove the clamps ~

Mine does when I see a phenomenal piece of wood, like koa, tiger or birdseye maple for sale online. Then I flat line when I see the price. When I regain consciousness, I reach for a lumber store slab of budget maple and get over my obsession.

Oh, almost forgot...it happens when Pick makes a video with a new Swamp Witch...nom nom. ; )

Constantly... Found a shop that wanted $1/box, and the proceeds go to local military families...  So I cleaned them out.

My pulse raised a bit while opening a shipment of sapele mahogany. Two slabs for two electric tenor guitars. Took me 3 days to decide and draw a shape...pulse quickens. Spend another 24 hrs joining& gluing the book-matched top plate...some sweet figured maple. Set up a routing jig for the neck pocket and remove most of the pocket material with a Forstner bit...pulse races as the carefully set blades of the router finish the rest....heart in throat. Remove the jig to see if all is good...sah-weet. Starting to sweat. Time to use sharp chisel to fine-tune the neck fit...eyesight cloudy...breathe...slowly...heart slowing. Ah, woodgasm.

Agreed on that.. . My local Home Depot has beautiful Walnut 1x2... not a straight 3' section in the place...
