Very nice sound. I like the drone effect you used on that. Keep up the good work!
If you want to see the Tung-Sol Terror in action heres the link to my You Tube site http://youtu.be/kG5CO9ydNB4
Thanks and cheers for the advice
You could put a fret across the tail next to the holes. It worked for me. Nice guitar!
Cheers Tom C , will install one at the next string change , will post some sounds soon , keep you posted
Very nice looking build ... you may find that you need to use rivets or a hinge like your first design to stop the strings from digging into the wood and going out of tune.. when do we get to hear it ...
The "Tung-Sol Terror" update . After a fair and deal of test playing , I decided to put right some things that just plain were wrong with the first build . Firstly the 2 stringer approach was too limiting so a quick conversion to a 3 stringer followed . Next , fitting strap buttons - impossible with the switch where it was , plus the vol / tone circuit sapped the output from the pups so , new peizo fitted under the bridge , wired straight to the jack , simple , the od switch hole became a strap button and the wiring got junked , the pots also caused a problem when strumming as I kept hitting them so replaced them with two meshed grommets . Bridge was too high for a decent action so replaced it with a brazing rod and block affair and swapped out the nut for a brass BA machine screw , bingo . The extra vents gave the box a really decent sound acoustically and plugged in the new piezo gave a clean high output with no signal zap . Overall the guitar has a really nice "toppy" sound to it , and is great to play acoustically and has a decent action , It sits well on the strap and amplifies really well . Lessons learned all round and I`m sure build two will go much simpler for it , here are some pics showing the "Tung-Sol Terror Mk 2"
I've made about 40 over the last year. Some have some clever techniques, but most are down and dirty. I've sold some, given the away, and donated some to the vets hospital. They all play just fine The best for me is the first music you play on it, to see what it sounds like. Each one is an experiment. I also made a dulcimer from a long wooden box, then decided to make a bowed psaltery. Both of those sound pretty good.
will do Mike
I am part way through build #9. Not a lot compared to some, but they add up quick! They are going faster now too. Keep sanding!
