Wow, there are currently six servicemembers with open requests on the CBGs for Servicemembers Group!  These requests arrived just in the last week.  See how many of them say they've seen one belonging to a buddy in their service unit?  I remember when I first saw a CBG, and I just had to have one, too.

Look around your workshop, people, and see if there isn't an instrument that wants to go on an adventure bringing music to folks doing a hard job in a tough location.

And for those that might be interested, here is how it works:

The military APO/FPO addresses are treated as domestic mail by the post office, so the ones I have sent are usually about 12 bucks to ship. You just need to fill out a customs form, and mark it as a gift.

You need to be sure that the build is solid, that it will play well, and that it will survive the trip to Afghanistan, or points beyond. If something needs tweaking, they don't have a whole lot of options while deployed, so the instrument needs to be as bullet proof (no pun intended) as possible.

Simply join the service members group, find one of the threads that does NOT say "Matched" on it, and post a reply, letting the service member know what you have to offer. If they like what they see, then you can send a Friend Request and exchange address and other information privately. We like to keep their mailing address off the public area for security reasons.

Once a build and a service member hook up, I mark the thread as Matched so folks now that someone is handling that request.

Please let me or Diane know if you have any questions or need any help.

Dan

I may do one this year
I scored some free parts
Have the wood
Bit busy now but later this summer

And now we're up to seven!  A hard-core blues fan just posted!

Folks have had their wishes fulfilled and new servicemembers have found the Nation.

At this point we have 3 servicemembers overseas who have open requests.

Stop by and see if you can't rustle up an instrument for a deserving player!

to see what those instruments look like out in the field!  Thanks, guys, for such a great photo!

We have 6 outstanding requests now. If anyone has a "spare" CBG lying around that needs a good home, sing out!!

Thanks

Dan

We have a couple more service members who just joined CBN, so if anyone has a CBG they can spare, I am sure our service members would love to have one!

We currently have 6 servicemembers with open requests.  So if you've fired up your woodshop to enjoy the warm weather (and not the cold, unheated garage or basement as you do in the winter!) please see you can step forward and make these good folks a guitar!  If you are already making one, it is easy to make two!

Previous requests have been filled. We now have three more service members who would love to have an instrument.

If you have one sitting around the house that is looking for a new home, here is a great opportunity!
