from what i've seen on the cigar box nation it seems you can use just part of a piezo pickup it should be same quality as 1 whole piezo. So those of you have cut them in half (and i've seen trimming them also) and had success please confirm this works and did you cut them with a scissor? or aviator snipers..etc..to not damage the ceramic? most of all does this work to cut in half? thank you.

I do it all the time on my all bone bridges...i just use a pair of heavy duty sissors

that looks like half to me!!

thank you

Yup it works just fine - but unless you need to fit them in a small space like Randy there, just leave them whole. Theyre cheap enough not to have to get 2 outa every one you buy! And you can get them in many sizes - 10mm is the smallest Iv used and I hated them. Too fiddly and tended to pick up just one string - bigger be better if you have the room.

Do you know what other piezo sizes (large) ones are sold at radio shack ? I bought the 073 ones from radio shack .. No credit card to order online at this time for other ones .. Would any large buzzer from radio shack work because out of the 3 radio shacks around here I bought all five they had of the 073 ones...

How many are you looking to buy? Even if you don't have a credit card, many places like CB Gitty will take PayPal.

yes it works fine. just use scissors ..

the biggest i used was 2" from an old telephone

Old Lowe asked me to come up with a new piezo disc pickup for his cones. What i did was cut a 41mm [ 1 1/2" round ] disc to the shape of the cone edge, hot glued the cut piezo on the cones edge and covered it with a milled out piece of purpleheart. The cone is lifted off the lid with thin washers.  It`s wired directly to the jack. Wow i was surprized at the sound, with hardly any unwanted noise like disc`s usually give off.
