Mine is 7 3/4 x 10.  I also have some real thin Jaime Garcias that should make killer ukes.

Phil,

My last 3 builds I have been using Las Cabrillas Balboa boxes. 2 were Ukes and 1 Mandolin. I believe these boxes have a better sound than any others I have used. Oh, all 3 of them were resonators.

I'm not sure which size box you have there, it looks to be larger than the one I used for this Tenor Uke I built sometime last year. Mine measures approx 6" X 10.5". I put Aquila Nylgut Strings on it and really like the sound.

Thanks Chuck, will try and find some.  I have a gorgeous Don Pepin Garcia with an 1/8" top that should be great also.

I'm brand new to CBU building. I have a couple of Cohiba boxes and the top and bottom are both really thick compared to other boxes.  Seems to me the thicker soundboard wouldn't resonate as well, but like I said, I'm new at this.  Anybody with more experience have any input on how the thickness of the soundboard affects the sound of a purely acoustic CB instrument?  Because other than that, the Cohiba boxes are really solid and they look nice too.

Thinner the better, except with resonators which actually benefit from a rigid top and frame since the resonator cone does nearly all the work.

Thanks!  I think I might hold onto the Cohibas until I'm ready to build a reso (which will probably be a while.)
