I have a gig at a music festival coming up and have built several "stomp boards" to get the sound of a juke joint floor... all to no avail.... so,

built my own porch floor.  1  by  rough cut oak planks and a 4x4 post.  With a mic laying on the floor a real thump/thump comes through.

Here are 5 CBGs built for sale in the performers booth...

extreme measures... but,... what the heck?

the best,

Wichita Sam

Nice!

I've seen this before used on stage. Great idea. I guess it is hard to beat the tone, when it is actually a porch floor...LOL Enjoy.

Excellent!

Does anyone remember John Hartford and his sheet of plywood?

I do.  He performed at my college way back in 1973.  I remember being fascinated by that plywood.  Had never seen that before.

I love this!!!

Ron,

Looking forward to it.  I'm doing a TV interview on KOZL Wednesday to promo the festival....

later,

Sam

Looks good, But maybe age it a bit, chain it to the truck, drag down a dirt and gravel road for a few miles, through some mud then rinse with beer.. that should give it just the right sound and look you need...

Hmmm, knew I guy who made house number signs out of chunks of limestone that had been used as corner posts in Kansas.  He would tie them behind his pickup and drive down gravel/sand roads.... amazing...

I was actually thinking about gray deck paint, then age it (hahahaha) and build a plank guitar build from the same rough cut lumber.....

It seems like every time I visit this site, something new inherits the "Coolest Thing I've Ever Seen" slot. I wonder what it would sound like wired up with a piezo and volume/tone pots...you'd also get the absurdness of having an "electric porch" as one of your instruments.

ahhhh, errrrr, now you've done it.... do I have time before the show? freeeeeeeakeeeeeee
