I re-strung my first 4 string CBG and tuned it GDAE, one octave below standard mandolin tuning. This is how it sounds unplugged.

  • That sounds nice and warm. Good playing and good tone.
  • Very nice! I'm in the middle of a build for my son which will likely use that tuning: he is a viola player, but I don't think I can get CGDA quite right with a 24.5" scale length and the strings I have on hand.
  • Thanks Penny for stopping by and listening and the comment. I'll have to build one with eight strings to get the full effect of an octave mandolin. Friend request has been sent. How long do you think it will take to get to Australia?
  • Sounds nice, very mellow.
