Hello Nation! Long time since I posted anything, but I ain't dead yet! (Well, I guess I sorta AM) I've just been hiding out in a Rock N' Roll band . . . exploring a Grateful Dead angle on CBG's . . . Here's a sound check on my new design - "Steal Your Face primitive 3-string Cigar Box Banjo" Also working on a book of Dead interpretations on the CBG. Hope you enjoy! • Thanks Turtle and Richard,

I got bit by the whole "deadhead thing" pretty late in life but have embraced it heartily (if you're not already there - I strongly recommend checking out the current incarnation of Dead & Co . . . there's some amazing new energy infused in the music as the torch goes to a new generation.)

Anyway, I'm finding a little niche for the CBG in all of that.  I'd love to put together a Jugband to do Dead covers (but haven't found lthe right ike-minded knuckleheads, yet)  Haha

  • One of my favorite Dead songs! Happy stuff! Does fit Uncle pretty well!  Great tone from your CBG banjo, perfect fit for your fine vocals. You do dead well!

  • Thanks Gents.  Kind of you to say . . .

  • Yup, knotlenny's CBG 101 teaching video really got me rolling and is still the basis of what I do when I use a slide.  Like Pick, I have steered a lot of people to that video and tune by ear system.

  • "Great Stuff Knotlenny", Yep!, long time no see, but!, hear your name mentioned a lot by a big fan of yours "Uncle John", also very appropriate timing with this posted video, have recently been researching and planning an upcoming build (or builds) of a 3 String Banjo along the lines of a combination "Lickety Split & Appalachian" Banjo Style  :-)

  • That was great both guitty and singing.

  • good to see you again . i send your "cbg 101"  video to many new comers asking about tuning and playin  .. so does  Uncle John  ;-) i'm sure your book is just as helpful.

  • Thanks John,  Of course I mean you !   :-)

  • LOL, not sure if you mean me, but that is sure a good song and I enjoyed it. Sounding great, Kevin.

  • "Dead"icated to "Uncle John"  :-)
