  • U will calculate as 12 frets, but just put 2nd, 5th and 7th frets.
  • This is cool. For a 30.25 string length and 3 frets the app gives me 1st fret (from nut, in inches) 1.698, 2nd 3.30 and third 4.813.
I knew about the fret calculator but didn't put it all together until now.
Time to make a new fretboard, thanks for the help.

  • Hi PRH, u can calculate the disntace ou use a tunner to adjust the frets before fix in to the neck. u can use a short neck, link for a fret calculator : http://www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator/

  • Hello,
I'd like to "3 fret" my CBG, how did you arrive at the distances for each of the frets?
Did you measure, tune by ear etc. Any help is appreciated. The neck I'll use is shorter than the one you show in the vid 30 and 1/4" from nut to saddle, 20 and 1/16 nut to body (if that's mportant).
Or should I start over with a longer neck?
    Thanks,
    pRH
  • very neat I love it
  • Dude, that totally rocks, you ARE King Threefret!
  • I tune in Open A "LOW TO HIGH - A C# E", because of short neck
  • Lovely stuff...inspired idea with the fret positioning..and tieing frets is great...classic medieval lute style. Reckon I'm going to make myself one of these...gotta be the first one on the block with a "viola des cojones"! Best thing for ages.
  • Best video EVER!!!
  • Rafael,
