One Kind Favor ~ Blind Lemmon Jeffferson song. Doug Thorsvik mentioned that I was due for a video. And I was talking to a harmonica player about minor key harmonicas and that we both used major key harmonicas for minor key songs. I made a vid of this back about 2010 for CBN. That video and some of the others disappeared over time! So this is a re-do. I think the earlier one was better. It did not have harp and this one does. This is on a DGBE four string Padron box. I think I will make a store bought six string video for comparison.

  • Thanks, B.Q.  There was not much wind yet it did make itself heard.

  • You’re gonna need a condenser mic with a wind screen if you wanna get rid of that background noise, great concept uncle!

  • Thanks, Doug and Kale.

  • Uncle John on location! How cool is that. And chosen with the song in mind to boot. Glad to see you back in action. You haven’t lost your touch! Thanks!!!

  • Uncle John covering Blind Lemmon Jefferson from the local cemetery. What's not to like about this vid?

  • Regarding the pic of the unknown lady's grave stone:  Military people leave coins on the grave stones of people they have served with.  My thought is that the coins on the unknown lady's grave mean that people care and/or feel like they too have been lonely and alone and in tough circumstance.  I think that next time I go there I will leave a coin.

  • Thanks, Andries.   Kind of fun to play in the cemetery.  There were a couple of elderly ladies - (even more elderly than me) decorating a grave about 80 meters away.  I bet they wondered what the heck I was doing.  They were kind of far to hear me well.   I was hoping for a standing ovation.  But I didn't get that or any thrown garbage eiither.

Thanks, Alan.  That is my prettiest CBG by far- but I did not make it.

It was made by a very artistic craftsman, Michael Ballerini.  I converted it to a four and did a few things that I think made it play and sound a bit better.  It is sadly under played.

  • "Good CBG take on an old Classic UJ", that Git is unfamiliar to me, is it a new build, or an old one I've seen before but forgotten about ??.

I'm guessing the Coins on the Headstone, is the same tradition as putting Pebbles on the Grave Markers to indicate that someone has visited, and payed their respects, to someone who has passed on. :-)

  • a contribution to the Stone ? i know of a juish tradition for leaving a whit pebble on the stone ,as a mark of visit so if there are many you know its a beloved person !

  • verry moving UJ specialy whit the unknown Lady Grave ,the padron represents the mood fine & moodfull, great rendition !
