Wrote this one after driving by an old motel which is no longer a motel but there are people who apparently live there. They come out when the sun goes down, these broken people on the edge of town.Played on the guitars in the video - a Yamaha acoustic and a 4 string Ashton cigar box guitar, unplugged.

  • Thank you Nancy cat, I always appreciate your kind comments and great kitty motel pic!
  • 306653909?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024 Derek this is great!!! Love the lyrics and touch of harp.....Meowwwww^..^

  • Thank you, Jeff. I know of at least 2 near us. The Rainbow motel sign in the video is a small motel about 20 minutes from me and the other one is a large property with lots of vehicles in the parking spaces...  I can imagine the stories from some of these people. I do wish them happy endings to their stories.

  • Heart felt and beautifully sung Derek ,I guess there's hotels like this right through the big US of A, let's hop those people find there way home soon .
  • Thank you Bruce, hope to see you there in the spring!

  • LOL Jack! I was thinking of starting the promotional tour at your new cigar box guitar building in Attica. ;)

  • Thank you AGP, you are a kind man. :)

  • Thanks Bear, Pick and Jim - I'm going to get a big head! I need some equipment, I think to make a better home recording? Then not sure what to do after that lol...

Bear, thanks I appreciate the kind support, Buddy.

Jim, you inspire me all the time with your fine playing, building, multi-instrument prowess and general positive support, so thank you for the kind comments. I wrote this one at one of my wife's arts / crafts shows (a 4 day show in Akron). I drive by the motel frequently that inspired this one.

  • Yes, Erasmo, it is a very fine line. Growing up in the Youngstown, Ohio rust belt showed me that early on. Thanks and Salute!

  • Thank you, Wes, Milt, James O and Unc. LOL Unc! Bent but hope you don't re-injure your back! During the recession a few years ago, I thought about it a lot when they were walking out my friends and co-workers and wondering when I would get the escort out to the parking lot, then how to make the house payments.
