This is a song based on a legend. The legend was that if you were a prisoner in Sugarland Prison in Texas and if the train headlight shined through your prison cell window onto you, -that you would soon be released.A lot of folks have done this song with Ledbelly doing an early version and CCR doing maybe the best known version on their 1969 Willy and The Poor Boys album. So far as I know, I am the only one to record it on his 73rd birthday!

  • Thanks,Kale!

  • Always a good one to cover. It's one of those songs you can do fast or slow, country or rock... it just always works. Even with CBG and Iowa sax. :-) Nice rendition John!

  • Thanks, Kevin!

Thank you for thinking of me, R. T. Z.

A little too late we should not under rate.

I know you are busy with much on your plate.

  • Happy Birthday UJ,

“This year I have something to boast:

    I remembered your birthday (almost).

    This card may be late

but it's close to the date.

Let's pretend it got lost in the post.”

  • Sounding great as always!

  • Thanks, James O.  I love CCR.  I wish I could keep a bunch in my memory and skill set.

  • Great performance Uncle John playing and vocals. I've done the CCR version many times.

  • Thanks, Brian and Doug.   You guys make this place a lot more fun.

  • Good stuff uncle, sing it like it’s your birthday!!!
