I've made one of these for myself as well, they work extremely well. I used some scrap maple in mine. next one i make i may line the guide channels with some brass stock to keep it steadier and prevent the risk of opening up the guide channel by accident with the saw.

those clamps...! you can never have enough Irwin clamps...best thing since sliced carrots (-:
