  • Thanks, Andries. Yup.  It is a song Mississippi John Hurt did.  And others too.  I like Mississippi John's version the best. 

    It was also a radio hit as 'Frankie and Johnny'.  I kind of think the 'Frankie & Johnny' version was changed up for white audiences.   Both versions are good.
