My first CGB, tuning of the lowest G-string is not adequate. The first fret gives a problem.Don't mention the skills....

  • Yes, it sounds much better with a lower nut.
My first Guitar Box Guitar is ready. I have another 11 sets of strings from CBGitty. So I can improve my building skills.

What is the embedding code for YT?

  • Yup, what ChickenboneJohn said. Plus you didn't show the bridge. If it's a bolt or something not fixed in place you can angle it so the string length is longer on the bass side so it's compensated. Even with lower action it's often necessary to angle the bridge for decent intonation. If all that fails use it for slide playing!

  • Thanks, I will try this.
  • The action is much too high, as when you are fretting it, it is pulling the string sharp as you press down on it. Change the bolt for one of those nails or set the bolt lower so that it the same height as the nail / frets, or a whisker higher (but that's all it needs, literally a whisker higher, not even a milimeter higher), and that should help it play in tune.  Here's my take on the nut set-up.
