https://bemuzic.bandcamp.com/I seem to have done mostly soft acoustic kind of stuff lately (probably because while busking I've found I'm less likely to get asked to move that way!) and had a sudden urge to do something with lots of distortion!!I made this Diddley Bow back in 2011. There are photos and details about it here http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/albums/didley-bow-with-bob-harrison-lone-star-pick-upI'm using an Electro-Harmonix 22500 dual stereo looper, a Mooer Tender Octaver, and a Boss Overdrive/Distortion OS-2 with the drive and colour up full!Recorded on a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8 inch Tablet with a Audio-Technica AT2020 mic going into it, via a Saramonic Smartrig. The amp is a Fishman Loudbox MIni.The Diddley Bow tuned to A (It has a normal A string from a guitar on it) made an octave lower with the octave pedal.I edited the video in Cyberlink Power Director 13. I used the chromakey effect to remove some of the black, and used various backgrounds to show through...

  • ah right. Went to see this guy live and he's great. Asked him about his set up and he just used a Boss RC 3 I think it was, definitely just a single pedal. He put it all into a mixer first then into the pedal. He then had another mic for his main vocals   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNMlgfi1u-E

  • It does have a mic Input. I need to work it in a bigger room ,my studio is really small so i get mic feedback. But  I like running it all thu my Behringer mixer first whenever possible, because  i get a bit more individual control

  • thanks Vinnie, Wow you've got an RC 300. Does that not have a mic input? Atm I'm using an Electro-Harmonix 22500. I like it as it has a mic and instrument input AND separate outputs for both. On the downside the buttons are quite close together so it easy to press two at once by accident!

  • thanks John, yeah I was messing around with effects : -)

  • Nice stuff...You put together some killer layers for a single string..What looper do you use?? I'm actually getting a vocal looper to got with my Boss RC 300 Loopstation ...This was just plain earth shattering,my dear....play on.

  • This is really a fun video.  Nice visuals to go with the loops.  There's nothing like a good polka.

  • ha, sounds like you're hooked with the ukes! Oh yes I remember your brain doesn't work well in the cold :-/ This musical journey never ends.....

  • I'm going to get the looper going, hopefully.  I made one uke.  Then I bought a cheap one on eBay to check the neck profile, then I bought a more expensive one on eBay because it was pretty ..... and I just bought a new decent one so I can tune the other to Low G........with a MiSi acoustic trio pickup fitted - very nice.

My excuse for not building another is that the garage is cold.  I have all the bits for a solid electric uke on the bench.  Then all I need is an acoustic amp. Where does it end ?

I do get on with uke tuning much better than standard CBG, though.

  • Digly,  I guess all pedals are superfluous to needs really...I heard Wilko Johnson being interviewed recently. They asked him about pedals and he said "pedals? I'm playing guitar, not driving a car!" He sounds bloody excellent without...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIXP889rLBQ

Ah did the looping vid make sense?? I'd be interested to know if it help you get going. So how many ukes have you made?

  • thanks Dave : -)
