Brian Loy on mrbangham Cigar Box Slide Guitar

Brian Loy, owner of Paradise Music in Franklin, NC jamming on a cigar box lap steel built by Mike Bingham. Brian played it like a traditional slide guitar rather that in the lap steel position. He plugged it into an Orange AD-30 tube amp and lit it up. The video camera mic just doesn't do justice to Brian's playing. The tone was absolutely wicked in the store.

Thanks John! That rig sounded huge in the music store. He had the volume pumped up enough that the two 12" speakers were moving some air. I could feel the vibrations but it wasn't hard on my ears.

Hey Clock - you are right about the guy playing it. I was amazed at his playing and the guitar. I had no idea it would sound like that. He played it last Saturday and I came home and told my wife that I had learned two things, one about the tube amp, and the other is that a lot of tone is in the hands. I went to work early this morning so I could get off in time to do a video. Thanks for the kind words! See Ya!

LOL - I hear you on the color. I can almost taste oranges when I look at that thing. Blackberry Smoke uses them.
