"A little Country", as they say - just a song about moving into a dream home in the country....one day! The idea for the song came from BBC's "Escape to the Country" daytime TV series...but why do they always want to : be completely isolated, have six bedrooms, a double garage for the classic Roadster and keep horses/chickens? ;-)Guitars: Slowpawcaster 2 6 string in open G, Resolution 4 string Reso GDGbMarshall ADS-50D Acoustic amp.Roland TD-12 V-DrumsI WANNA LIE WHERE THE SWALLOWS FLY AND THE BEES BUZZ ROUND MY HEADWITH FIELDS OF GRAIN AND NARROW LANES WHERE MY FOLKS WERE BORN AND BREDTHOSE STARLIT SKIES AND BUTTERFLIES AND THE SMELL OF BAKING BREAD...AND I'LL ALWAYS HAVE NOTHIN' MUCH TO DO.CHORUS:A PLACE IN THE COUNTRY - WHERE I CAN LAY MY HEADI WANNA HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY - WITH A NICE SOFT FEATHER BEDESCAPE TO THE COUNTRY - WHERE I CAN BE ALONE,...THE PLACE THAT I CALL HOME.I WANNA GO BACK TO THAT DIRTY TRACK THAT LEADS TO A COSY HAVENI'M GONNA CASH MY LITTLE STASH ALL THE MONEY I BEEN SAVIN'GET WELLY BOOTS GIVE UP MY ROOTS AND THE JOB WHERE I BEEN SLAVIN'...AND I'LL ALWAYS HAVE NOTHIN' MUCH TO DO.CHORUSI WANNA FARM THAT'S FULL OF CHARM WHERE I CAN BE ALL DAYWITH DUCKS AND GEESE AND A GOLDEN FLEECE THAT'LL HELP ME PAY MY WAYA TRACTOR RIDE, A BRAND NEW BRIDE AND A ROLL ROUND IN THE HAY...SO I'LL NEVER HAVE NOTHIN' MUCH TO DO.CHORUSWITH TRACTS OF LAND AND A FEW OLD HANDS I'LL BUILD MY OWN EMPIREI'LL JOIN THE POSH OL' GOLF CLUB AND I'M SINGIN' IN THE CHOIRI'LL POSE AROUND WITH MY HORSE AND HOUNDS ..." • cheers RTZ!  more to come....then we have an album! ;-)

  • Slowpaw country music nice yee haw take care Steve.

  • you guys are my new role models... ;-)

where I live now 60 years ago it was surrounded by countryside and many neighbours had chicken sheds in their back gardens in those days....urban sprawl has caught up - time to go!

  • Great lyrics Steve. I'm not quite 60 (48 this past July), and I am fortunate to have my own place in the countryside. We have a 28 acre piece of paradise nestled between a river valley and a forested mountain. Laying hens and Muscovey ducks, 30+ raised garden beds and a few other in-ground gardens for our summertime organic produce business. The farm house is about 90 yrs. old and shutters in a strong wind. No garage, but I do have a workshop in the basement so I can build during the winter months. After growing up in a very large city of 6+ million in my youth, the peace found in the sticks can't be beat.

  • cheers Digly - I have an overwhelming desire to live in a remote spot by the sea and raise chickens.....maybe that is the  60+ crisis...?  ;-)

  • Nice work, Steve.

They want all of those things because they've been told that a big house and lots of stuff brings happiness.  Country life can be idyllic or miserable, depending on circumstances and attitude.   I hope that you have a happy 2015, wherever you are :-)

  • cheers guys - Clock i'll build a little shack around the back ;-)

  • How about a shack in the country?

  • I enjoyed it too.  I always wanted to get in the country or by a lake.  Maybe in the next life.   I like our modest home in a nice small town.

Steve, you kind of tried to influence me toward GDgB tunings.   I was reluctant.   I thought 3 strings were the epitome of CBGs.    But the more I play GDgB......   Well, for slide...  I love the sounds I can make.  You were right.

  • nice!!!
