This video is a response to a question asked about one of of my previous videos. I talk about my two 2X4 lap steels and do a sound sample of each. The red one is tuned in open D and the blue one is tuned to C6. They are similar looking instruments but they sound very different.

  • Thanks Derek and Richard. Great perspectives on each. Red and Blue... why choose? Ha ha.

  • Love the sound of the C6 tuning. P90's are cool too

  • I dig the red one, Memphis grind! Glue those setting in place! I’d love to hear you cover a song with it Poorness. Next CallyFest though, those Calli girls will love the blue one, such a sweet blended beach sound! Where is Hawaii anyway! You play very well!

  • I never thought about it that way Dave but you're absolutely right. That's the beauty of a sixth i guess... C/Am or D/Bm or E/C#m... such a beautiful combination in all cases.

  • I think you’re real good on lap play Poorness. Keep it up. I love C6. It’s C on the low 3 strings and Am on the high 3.

  • I've been saying that a lot lately.

  • WHY NOT !
  • Yeah, I need to try that technique on these Buggy. I agree with you about the P90. I always seem to like the tone of any guitar with a P90. They're just magic. And yes... a definite Hawaiian vibe on that C6. :-)

  • Nice... try hitting it with the handle of a wooden spoon as you play :>) you might like it... C6 i can see the Hulla skirts now coming up the beach... I do like a P90
