This was built as a long overdue gift for my friend and musical mentor Bernie Larsen. Vendor's pain to fame include Melissa Etheridge and Lucinda Williams, but more germain to the question, he was the guitar player for el-rayo-x, David Lindley's band.

This is quite literally a danlectro style in a weissenborn shape. The sides aren't bent, rather they are cut into a frame. There is no kerfing or bracing in the sides. I do some bracing that I will keep to myself but the top and back are generally un-braced. The result is something that acoustically sounds like a danelectro convertible but louder. It also resists feedback better than a traditional weissenborn.

I build one last year with both piezo and coil pups but they have really different output characteristics and they don't blend well, so I wired them to two separate jacks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Q55yU-7rY

Price is tough without knowing what woods and electronics, I suppose I would ask $500 for this one due mostly to the amount of time it took to resaw and join the top.

I play weissenborn as my main instrument ATM and this instrument intrigues me. Im interested you mention it was a commission for a client, what was his remit? What characteristics does this have that a proper weissenborn style guitar doesn't? I love playing amped up blues on my weissenborn and I'd love to have a coil pickup on the neck that I could blend with the under saddle piezo. What kind of price are these commission ghettoborns retailing for? very nice looking guitar :-)

it's not as loud acoustically as the K&S weissenborn behind me, but it sounds good.
