I don't know, Daniel.  I tend to be a half-assed expert, not a real one.

I did see some git photos not long back using barbed wire for strings.   Maybe I am just resistant to change, but that seemed like a bad idea to me.  Way too much pressure for economy tuners.

Uncle John...,,perhaps...,.,I still think the rawhide idea in a factory situation might be something.

I was trying to be delicate. I guess what I was getting at, are any of the major string manufacturers noticing the CBG world, and have perhaps noticed that there is a market for 3 or 4 string sets? It will happen, but I was just thinking that maybe the peeps who supply the sets now have had them custom made?

Folks, you did answer my question. The strings available are good and purchasing a set of six for what you need can be wasteful. But perhaps as mentioned below, the research done is good, so maybe one set of 6 may not get you the correct gauges. Just wondering, thinking out loud.

Now you are just stringing us along!

so strung strings sing sweet?

hmmmm. thanks folks, still a slippery slope. perhaps i should invest in the the squeaky clean laundromat.

i thinkith that strings need to be restrung. rethought. how about a steel core wound with gut? or dry rawhide, then wet and allowed to shrink tight? or i can use my set of gitty strings.

"too many minds"..............quote from the last samurai movie. heavy. (i know, i'm a sandwich shy of a full picnic).

Thanks Rick, Daniel and Brian.    Rick, we are looking into adding a Wishy Washy or Squeaky Clean Laundromat sectioned off inside the pawn shop.

Daniel, I think Gitty could answer that question best, but other than being good strings, they a not special GDG CBG strings.  Those sales just reduce waste and cost.

The basis is pretty much taken from 3 strings out of a normal set? But I believe the gitty string gauges are based on their own tone experiments & balanced string tension? I’ve used them for DAD,EBE,FCF,AEA, even low CGC with good results, the (Low) GDG electric set is recommended, especially for slide?

Hi John, my query is kind of specific. Are Gitty's GDG strings out of a set of six, or are they made specially for GDG? In other words, a normal set of six strings tune easily to EADGBE, as they are made for. So taking some and tuning them up and down, sometimes you wrestle. ?

Your one of the best teachers here UJ! Yak, yak, but effective and you cut to the chase! No filler stuff here, just solid organic useable  nutrients ! How is the Pawn Shop coming alone in Ogden by the way!

Thanks, Clarky.  You may find a use for it.
