Rubbish demo of a double 8 string lapsteel guitar.

Please excuse the playing but (A) I'm new to lapsteel and (B) when faced with so many strings I just froze haha. Hoping to improve soon and prepared to put i...

Haha thanks Richard. You're too kind. All I played was a G power chord on the top and bottom necks with a low GDb thrown in there too. I wouldn't know how to do it any differently. I'm sure you'd do a great job too though. Thanks again, Richard.

Beautiful looking instrument, intimidating true! You did great, looking forward to more! First it take me an hour to tune, then I’d I make dogs cry and cats howl!

Thanks James O. Hope you're well?

Thanks Derek. Definitely a start but glad to hear that you think it's a solid start.

Thanks again chaps. Greatly appreciated :0)

Nice new contraption Bear. Sounds like you have a good solid start on playing it.

Thanks Paul. I didn't consider the D or A open tunings but now that you said it it makes a lot of sense. I think I'll take that advice and run with it. I like and know a little in open D on six string anyway (and really enjoy playing in open D more sometimes) so I think I'll choose G and D tuning.

Thanks again Paul. That's a great help. :0)

I would get some 12 string sets and use what you need from them, save the rest for CBG's.

As far as tuning goes, I would tun one to G and the other to D or A for some blues.

Thanks Diglydog. I wouldn't have a clue about country or western either so we're level there ;-) Two 8 string necks is definitely more than I know what to do with. I'm considering doubling up the strings on one neck to get Gg Dd Gg bb using a twelve string guitar string set. The other I'll aim for as many GDg power chords as possible but in different octaves haha. Talk about cheating!

Two 8-string necks - wow !  To mis-quote the Blues Brothers, one for each kind of music: country and western :-)  Doesn't sound too shabby from this end - I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it.

Thanks Danny, very nice of you. Got a long way to go and a lot to learn to play this well though :0)

Square dancing sounds good. That's it then. Everyone round to Pick's house for a par-tay! Say "hello" to Kat for me and ya'll be careful not to fall of that table! Haha

Thanks for taking the time to comment chaps :0)
