I ordered one Richard. About $25 on eBay for a 32 gig iDiskk. This will really help. I can even take it to the lake to clear space for more on location fun. :D) My iPad is only 34 gig of memory and about 30 gig is taken up by these fancy apps.

By the way, i’ve Been doing a series of drawings this stormy weekend for Jim Hall for a celebration party for him on his 50 years in the music business. Jim is often at our jams. He’s a great spirit in our music scene. Anyhow, I need to do some typography for the poster. I just installed Microsoft word (free app) to do the layout and type. We’ll see what that brings. ?

The lightning port is just an external input to an iPad for charging and input via an interface. iPads just call the connection a lightning plug or connector. Not internal or software. On the flash drive below, one end is the lightning connector, the other USB. Thanks Daniel, I’m not up to speed on terminology very much.

Dave, get two, their small. (just an old saying). Richard, curious, the "lightning" plug, is the new firewire? Didn't know the iPads had that. USB would work also? But slower?

when working in the corporation with a network, some of us photographers would create a black block, (photoshop file), almost a gig, tiff file so it wouldn't be compressed, and send it to a designer or two. a prank, just having fun, but it worked, everyone had shared folders.

It’s really the best deal, wish I would have done it sooner. Easy, and you have your videos saved forever. We’ll get you going on this, GarageBand with a IRig, and your mind can be a mental wasteland like mine, although yours sounds close ha! You plug this in your lightning plug, and the tablet directs you to the free app, open it and bang, your in.

I think i’ll Get one of those idiskks Richard. Looks like a ticket to ride the video express. I’m glad i’m Not addicted or anything. I can stop doing this stuff anytime. NOT!

Thank you Richard. Is it possible that Dave's app is using up all his RAM and not allowing the shooting of the video? It may be possible to designate a "scratch disk", like photoshop? Dave is your physical memory very low on the iPad? Thinking out loud, the best solution is most likely below in Richard's message. Then there's the iCloud issue, to delete from the cloud.

Dave, the easiest thing I know is downloading to a iDiskk lightning flash drive. They’re at Amazon for $23 for 32 GB, enough for a hundred videos at least. Plus, you have them anytime you want them, can put them back on the iPad, or plug the flash drive  into a USB port on you TV or computer and watch the videos. I find that you have to erase about 1 1/2 videos to record 1 video. Hope that helps! You have a bit eating iPad!

I think I need more memory in my pad Richard. I can only make one of these Filmmaker/iMovie extravaganzas and I use up the memory. The apps eat up the magority of the memory before shooting anything. :*) I wonder if more can be added?

Daniel, if I remember I suggested using a flash drive. Dave and I use iPads. I use a iDiskk, works great and has a lightning plug for iPads. Just get a  comparable flash drive for your device, plug it in, directions should pop up for an app to use, then download photos and videos into it for future viewing or use. Then delete the ones you have on your device to free up storage space. You could also save to iCloud, but I like to have physical possession of my stuff.
