written by Oliver Hood 1933
recorded by Gov. Jimmie Davis 1939
Jimmie took off where J. Rodgers left off.
Country with a little bit of Jazz. A request from one of them that broke my heart.
4 string cohiba box
3 string Oakie bass.
Another late night recording.
It's plucky & klunky
I'm sure this is the only time i'll play it

I always like the simple bass lines in country music, that and I can't handle amps and distortion right now. I hate the Eagles

I like that idea for the strings.  Gives the low string a little separation from the rest.  You've always had a good thing going with your voice and these plucky guitars, but the bass really ties the room together Dude.

Thanks Turtle, I think there is a lot of compression here and the tone rolled of the bass. I still need to put clear on this guitar and find the best strings I'm thinking one wound and 3 plain steel.

Ah yes.  Fine vox, picking, and the bass is sounding nice and full out of these speakers.

Wonderful.  Best version of this I have ever heard.   You do some fine Jimmie Rodgers and Jimmie Davis.

This was one of the first songs I learned to play.  When I bought a guitar about 15 years ago, learning to play was in doubt and I also bought an automatic chording device.   It attached like a capo and, I think it had 3 chords, maybe 4.  There was a booklet with it and a cassette tape and one of the songs was this one.

Great video that stirred up good memories.
