Thanks Richard. There's actually about 2 mm clearance from the neck on either side of the bridge. My thoughts were that if it touched the neck it might dampen vibrations transmitted to the top. I probably should have experimented with one that touched just to see for sure. The base of the bridge is about three times as wide as the top and I think that adds to stability. It didn't show any inclination to tip or wobble so maybe I got lucky. Dumb luck or divine guidance? Maybe synonymous!

I’m studying the floating bridge. Is it the snug fit around the top through neck  that keeps it straight up, because it looks so narrow that you’d think it wobble under the pressure of the strings. It’s fascinating and man the sound is super loud and clean. Sounds amazing Jim!

Thanks Dave. Yeah, I'd like to see a picture. Of the several hundred builds of mine this is only the third (I think) with a flying bridge. I was pleased with what a difference it made.

Thanks Denbo. The grandparents are friends who have an organic farm. I worked out a barter with them for this instrument. I suspect I'll get the better end of the deal!
