Thanks, Derek and AGP.  I forgot about Elvis doing this song, but he had a good ear for a good song.  He would just do it his way.

AGP, I am a bit embarrassed that I did not know about the American Epic Series.  I just searched it out and did about half an hour of sampling.  Lots of good stuff for me to go back to.  Thanks

Mississippi John Hurt does Frankie and Johnny (or Frankie and Albert) with the same story, similar verses and really, a different tune.  I have tried to use his tune in the past and then this week tried doing it the way I did it here.  I like both.

"Classic UJ", haven't heard the song "Frankie" sung & played since last night!, while watching an episode of American Epic, featuring Mississippi John Hurt, from memory first recorded by him in 1928, what a talented Finger Picker and Sweet Vocalist he was! (much like yourself).

Well done, a fine performance by the Cat in the Hat with the Iowa Sax and Tenor Git  :-)

Thanks, Dave.  This is for sure my fave git.   Yup, I capoed to C and used G position chords..  Could not sing it in my more frequent G, A or D.
