This is a fun little comparison. All three clips are done with the same amp and mic settings. Both volume and tone are all the way up. The pizza paddle holds it own!

Thanks Greg. Glad you liked the paddle. You are correct Daniel. I just played two strings on all 3 basses to make the comparison more similar. I played a simple riff that just requires 2 strings. If the pizza paddle had frets it would be a more realistic comparison.
ok, i think the notes on the fender are a bit more crisp, no doubt because of the frets, and your prior experience playing it. but again, to be able to play the same riff on the pizza paddle is impressive. i watched closely, and it looked like you were playing just the top two strings on the fender. ? so you have two on the pizza machine. there really doesn't need to be a comparison, the hand made machine holds its own and in many ways is more flexible, magic with your pedals and amp. I live for basses. kudos, wish you could try mine.
I liked the paddle. Like the groove. I built Gitty Gbass still learning.
Thanks Uncle and Diglydog. I like to keep them short and to the point with demos UJ. I've seen a few where the clip is so long, you forget the first one by the time you get to the third. I actually thought about doing it as a blind test Digly... but then I thought... if there's no talking and no playing... why would I need a video at all? LOL.
Well, like a lot of musical comparisons, they all sound a bit different. I'm not sure if there's a stand-out winner or loser for me, just difference. Your pizza paddle certainly holds its own in good company.
How about a 'blind' recording to see if we can really tell the difference ? You could have more than 3 clips and see if anyone votes for the same bass being much better than itself ;-)
Good demo. Short for the attention deficit kids like me. I have a hard time choosing between doors number 2 and 3. 3 wins.
Yeah. The Fender is in a class of its own, but I'm impressed by how good the paddle sounds. It certainly has a more upright-y tone than either of the other two.
I think the Fender had a bit more sweetness but your Paddle is almost as sweet.. All good Poorness ! You the Bassman !
so the first two have frets. kudos for playing the same riff fretless. i think both the pizza paddle and you are holding your own. ! grab the paddle, crank up the amp, and post us a bite.
