Thanks Jim, a 2nd A string is what it will be, just now finished the little critter :-), but the strings haven't arrived yet, now late Fri so probably won't see them until at least Mon :-(

Thanks AGP. If I was making a 1 string fiddle I would use the A (2nd) string which would give it a high enough sound to give that fiddle sound but not as shrill as a single E (1st) string. Good luck with it!

After all these years I have a nearly finished 13 inch scale 1 String Fiddle on the bench, roughly based the recent Video post by Matthew Borczon, I'm using it at as trial run for a 4 string build to be done in the future, have ordered a couple of sets of GDAE Aluminium Alloy wound, Solid Steel Core Violin strings, but have no idea which one would be the best to use on the said 1 string build, any suggestions from a man who we all know and respect as a "Premium Fiddler" would be very much appreciated  :-)
